10 am – 2 pm, Marina del Sur, Elephant Butte State Lake Park. The event begins with a POW/MIA service on D-Dock, Marina del Sur. Decorated boats meet at Dam Site to start the boat parade at noon followed by boats passing by the main boat ramp for wreath toss, playing of taps, and a USAF fly-by. All are invited to decorate their boats, RVs or campsites and join the parade honoring those who’ve served in the military. 11 am, Desert Cove Campground, Elephant Butte Lake State Park. Enter the competition and see if your best batch of red or green can win a prize or come on out and vote in the People’s Choice award. Registration is on June 19th from 3–6 pm. Tournament action is from 6am – noon both days at Elephant Butte Lake State Park. All other activities are at the Elephant Butte Community Center. Any youth grades K–12 with access to a boat are encouraged to participate in this annual Father’s Day Event. A cookout is held after weigh-in on Saturday; awards are given after tournament action is complete on Sunday. Each contestant must furnish his or her own boat and pay a $15 entry fee. The fee includes gifts, drinks, lunch on Saturday, a t-shirt, and a chance at a trophy. Sponsored by the Elephant Butte Bass Anglers. Park admission fees apply. Elephant Butte Lake State Parks & the City of Elephant Butte are pleased to announce the Inaugural Boat, RV and Sports show scheduled for the July 4th weekend of 2015. Proceeds from this show will be used to fund the annual fireworks extravaganza. Visit this webpage for more information.
Dusk, Rattlesnake Island off of Lion’s Beach, Elephant Butte Lake State Park. Come and see the state’s biggest fireworks show reflected off the largest body of water in New Mexico! This fishing tournament began in 1991 and unites volunteers who love to fish with disabled and disadvantaged children for a day of fishing in the outdoors. Dusk, Elephant Butte Lake State Park. The Luminaria Beachwalk, sponsored by the Elephant Butte Chamber of Commerce, features thousands of luminarias lining paths on the beach leading to community-sponsored campsites with posole, cocoa, s’mores, and more! The beautiful on-the-water parade begins at 6:30pm. A combination Christmas party / community awards ceremony (for lighting of boats, RVs, businesses, and residences) follows at the Elephant Butte Inn.
